Presidential Bank Recognized by The Waterford Foundation

April 22, 2011 - Presidential Bank was presented with the Partnership Award by the Waterford Foundation at this year’s annual meeting. Executive Director Nancy Doane presented the award to Bruce Cleveland, President and CEO of Presidential Bank, stating, “The Waterford Foundation has had nothing but good value and good service from Presidential Bank....”

The Bank and its representatives have supported the Foundation in many capacities over the years, from serving on the Board of Directors, providing key leadership through the turbulent years of saving the Phillips Farm, to serving on several committees. Additionally, the Bank was instrumental in establishing the Foundation’s Endowment Fund and continues to provide key leadership in its efforts to raise support for the Waterford Foundation’s mission, which is to preserve the historic buildings and open spaces of the National Historic Landmark District of Waterford, Virginia, and through education, to increase the public’s knowledge of life and work in an early American rural community.

The Waterford Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Waterford, Virginia, is a National Historic Landmark. In 1970, the Secretary of the Interior determined that the Waterford Historic District possessed national significance and designated it a National Historic Landmark. It is the highest designation of historic significance possible in the U.S., and places it on par with Mt. Vernon and Monticello—a rare honor. The determination was based on what the Secretary perceived as an extraordinary balance between the buildings of an intact historic agrarian village and the unspoiled agricultural setting that surrounds it. Waterford is also rare in that it is still a living community.

Fourth Annual Holiday Receptions

January, 2011 - For the fourth consecutive year, December saw Presidential Bank thank it’s customers with a round of holiday receptions at several of its branch locations. Over 325 guests braved the frigid temperatures and poor weather to attend the receptions, with many customers attending for the first time.

Welcoming customers to the receptions were Bruce Cleveland, President & CEO, Dave Erickson, Executive Vice President & CFO, and other executive officers, managers and staff. Customers expressed compliments and appreciation for personalized service by branch and Customer Service Center staff. One customer expressed his sincerest appreciation for the Bank remaining solid, conservative, and service-oriented, as opposed to other banks that treated him as “a number.” Others raved about individual staff members who helped resolve account issues or guided them to products that better met their needs. It was clear the personal attention so intrinsic to Presidential’s culture made a real difference for many customers.

Hors d’oeuvres, hot and cold savories, wine & cheese, and sumptuous desserts added a tasty punctuation to the evenings. Many “compliments to the chef” were offered. As each reception drew to a close, conversations continued between customers and staff. All in all, this year’s Holiday Receptions were well received and fun for all.
